Sustainability
Committed to Sustainability

Sustainability practices are interwoven into our projects, from procurement of environmentally sound materials to the recycling of demolition waste.

Sustainability is a guiding principle for every aspect of our organisation and we continually seek innovative ways to minimise our ecological impact and promote responsible practices. Our focus on environmental outcomes creates value for our clients while actively contributing to the well-being of our environment and the communities in which we operate.

Chalouhi develops project-specific demolition and waste-management plans, ensuring that every aspect of our work aligns with our Zero Waste goals.

Established environmental processes

We deliver quality services to our clients in a way that protects and enhances the environment and the community by collaboratively embedding environmental measures in our daily operations including:

Create awareness among staff, subcontractors and clients of the potential environmental impact of our operations and work collectively in minimising these effects.
Extend our environmental commitment to our suppliers, ensuring materials and resources are eco-friendly.
Ensure preventative control measures of our operations are performed within community and environmental standards.
Reduce waste levels by promoting recycling, energy efficiency and fuel-efficient vehicles.
Chalouhi’s
approach to
sustainability

We deliver quality services to our clients in a way that protects and enhances the environment and the community by collaboratively embedding environmental measures in our daily operations including:

We divert a minimum of 95% of construction waste from our projects into recycling and waste-reduction programs.

Our multifaceted waste classification system cuts down raw material usage by 25%.

Our eco-friendly construction practices significantly contribute to a 30% reduction of greenhouse gases and a 50-60% decrease in dust emissions.

We prioritise the use of recycled products and source water from existing sediment basins where possible.

Additionally, we divert a minimum of 95% of construction waste from our projects into recycling and waste-reduction programs, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, with the aim of achieving Zero Waste by 2028.

Sustainable material management and recycling initiative

In our commitment to environmental sustainability, we ensure that all demolished materials are separated and, wherever feasible, sent to recycling centres for processing and reuse.

We use green building materials, implement energy-efficient building systems and integrate renewable energy into our construction techniques. As an example of this, 100% of timber sourced is Forest Stewardship Council certified or equivalent.

Waste reduction and environmental compliance

Chalouhi’s projects adopt a multifaceted waste classification system, designed specifically to segregate waste streams on site. This system enables us to efficiently manage waste and incorporate recycled construction products wherever possible, cutting down raw material usage by 25%.

Eco-friendly construction practices

We have embraced the use of warm mix asphalt (WMA) incorporating 30% recycled asphalt pavement in all our asphalt works. This significantly contributes to a 30% reduction in greenhouse gases, a 50 to 60% decrease in dust emissions, reduced ‘blue smoke’ during transport and a smaller carbon footprint.

Complementing this, we use Ecocem concrete and biodiesel blends in our mobile equipment, and prioritise the use of recycled or locally sourced materials. Our operations are fine-tuned for sustainability, including using energy-efficient equipment, adopting water conservation measures, and optimising logistics to buy and deliver in bulk, further reducing transport emissions and packaging waste.
